How the aCT Score Calculator works
Each ACT section converts raw correct answers to a 1 to 36 scale score using a chart unique to that test form, and the composite is the average of the four sections rounded to the nearest whole number. This estimator applies a typical conversion so any practice test becomes a planning score.
Composite = round((English + Math + Reading + Science) ÷ 4)
Example: 60/75 English, 45/60 Math, 30/40 Reading, and 28/40 Science estimate to 29, 27, 27, and 26, a composite of 27.

How accurate is this estimate?
Real conversion charts vary by a point or two per section between test dates, so treat the composite as plus or minus one point. Official practice tests include their exact chart if you need precision.
What is a good ACT score?
The national average is about 19 to 20. A 24 beats roughly three quarters of test takers, 30 or higher is competitive at selective schools, and 34 plus is elite.
Does the ACT penalize guessing?
No. Like the SAT, only correct answers count, so answer every question.
