How the final Grade Calculator works

Your course grade is the current grade weighted by everything already done, plus the final weighted by its share. Solving that for the final gives one clean formula, and the calculator also shows your best and realistic-floor outcomes.

Needed = (Target − Current × (1 − w)) ÷ w

Example: at 86% with a final worth 25%, reaching 90% requires (90 − 86 × 0.75) ÷ 0.25 = 102%. Not possible, so 89.5% is the best case if your school rounds.

Frequently asked questions

What if the score needed is above 100%?

The target is mathematically out of reach. The calculator shows your maximum possible grade so you can pick a realistic target instead.

Does my professor round grades?

Many round 89.5% up to an A-, but it is never guaranteed. Treat rounding as a bonus, not a plan, and check the syllabus.

How do I find the final's weight?

It is listed in the syllabus grade breakdown. If the syllabus lists points instead, divide the final's points by the total course points.
